What should you know about Refrigerated air dryers?

The compressed air majorly contains the naturally occurring moisture which negatively affects the applications that need moisture-free air. Basically, the dryers are a common solution for removing the moisture content. The most popular kind of air dryer is refrigerated air dryer due to its capability to reach an acceptable due point in general industrial plants.

As the name suggests, these refrigerated dryers work same as the refrigerators in a home. The compressed air is pulled in to a machine which cools this air. As a temperature of the air drops, moisture in the air condenses and becomes liquid. Once the moisture gets condensed, it collects into a separator that fills up and eventually gets drained out. These dryers are equipped up with automatic drains to facilitate the procedure.

It is crucial to realize that this refrigerated dryer works in such a way that it leaves some bit of water vapor in the air despite removing moisture completely. So, this kind of dryers is not ideal for applications which are water sensitive.  There are two kinds of refrigerated dryers first is non-cycling refrigerated dryers and other is variable speed refrigerated dryers.

How refrigerated dryers work?
The refrigerated dryers work on the principle same as domestic refrigerators or as home AX systems. Initially, the compressed air is cooled in air to refrigerated heat for about 35’ F, which is a temperature where the moisture gets condenses and gets drained off. Air to the air heat exchanger has utilized for both pre-cool the incoming air and re-heat outgoing air as it leaves dryer. The compressed air leaves dryer with a dew point of about 35 to 50 ‘ F.
